Inhabiting the Banal, Imperfect and nothingness(B.I.N) is laying bare the ideas of construction in contemporary Singapore landscape. It is a critique to the notion of upgrading of the land(scape) and the hopes of boosting the country’s economy. It is also a commentary of the self, where the invisible labour has become the overlooked and the neglected has been taken for granted. The works highlight these concerns through the construction of the bare support structures and materials from construction sites. In addition, by re-examining aspects of constant redevelopment in the making of this country, I would like to address the notion of social mobility within the invisible labour and the imaginary perspective. |
